Subject: fun in the fog
I would like to mention something about the source of this show, which in its non-highend-German/Dutch/Austrian origin may scare some people off.
This was a free afternoon show in the middle of a courtyard near the SF Bay (fear not -- no wind noise at all!)... although the recording rig I used is not exactly top-end, I'm very happy with the results, and the performance captured is unbeatable. With few reflections nearby -- the stage was in the middle of a large courtyard -- I got good direct sound at the lower half of the drum kit, and Will & Devon were willing to adjust their amp positioning to better serve the tape. The fact that I also picked up the bird whistling mid-jam in a nearby tree (and the band's whistled replies) makes the case that this is a worthy recording (and source) to check out. Enjoy.
